Where are the Justice Leagues

After reading Forever Evil #3 we finally know were all 3 Justice Leagues are. Apperently they're all combined into Firestorm's body. The good news is that all three leagues are alive. The bad news is we have no clue where Firestorm is and since there are som many people in his body he might explode soon.

Check out the other issue's of Forever Evil to see if Batman can save them. Also to see who is the prisoner the Crime Syndicate brought with them. I'm thinking Earth 3's version of Lex Luthor, but let me know what your thoughts on the Justice League and the mysterious prisoner.

Fake comic book trailer - Death of the Marvel Mangaverse

Hey guys, sorry for the delay. For the past few weeks I was getting ready to do two panels at a anime convention called N2u. The convention was fun and met some cool people at the convention. One of my panels was about this very website, so as a joke/treat for the people who showed at the convention I made a joke trailer on a Marvel mini-series called New Mangaverse. It was the last story to come out of a series called the Marvel Mangaverse. It was okay, but it could have been better. However there were a lot of things that would be funny so I made this for just the ocassion. Enjoy.

Earth 2 Update

Since issue 16 is already out and the next will be written by the new writer Tom Tayler. I figure a small recap on Earth 2 will be helpful for new readers who walked in and want to know what the hell is going on and how we got to this point.

To start off Earth 2 is an alternate universe to the DC universe (duh). But unlike what it was like before the reboot the roles of generations of heroes has been reversed. So instead of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman looking up to the golden age characters like Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and the Atom. It's the golden age characters looking up to them. Its not a bad concept. Heck it's cool to that those three have started it all (in fiction I mean). Wonder Woman was the first super hero so all the super heroes are called wonders instead of supers, meta-humans or mutants as we normally hear in comics. Superman and Batman happen to be the best of friends since they were kids. Its a really cool concept and the way the characters interact with one another have that old DC universe feel. But like the first story arc in Geoff Johns's Justice League in DC's New 52 Darkseid invades the earth. Unlike Justice League, the war with Darkseid only lasted one issue but with the three heroes dieing and a new generation appearing 5 years later.

In the last few issues we learn that Darkseid's army is still alive and on earth thanks to the investigations of both Hawkgirl and the new Batman, although that isn't explored much. However the other heroes and the World Army (the world got together as one army during Darkseid's invasion) are going to war against one of Darkseid's generals who survived called Steppenwolf. He and his group of soldiers who are loyal to him have taken control of a small country called Dherain and set plans for the rest of the world. The heroes and World Army were beaten all too soon. As Steppenwolf declares himself master of the earth, he is killed by one of his soldiers called Brutaal who takes charge of Steppenwolf's forces and declares this world under Darkseid's control. If that's not bad enough we find out that Brutaal is infact a brainwashed Superman. With superman's powers (plus some that now act like Darkseid's powers) the earth dosen't look like it stands a chance.

Although this does look like it might lead to a fight between the evil Superman and the new Batman (which sounds awesome by the way), lets not forget that there are still other evils still out there on earth so the characters are not out of danger just yet. Thanks to DC's villains month we learn that Solomon Grundy is back on earth looking for revenge on Green Lantern. There's the threat of a red lantern that might destroy the earth and the secrets of Arkham which you all know from my last post on Earth 2.

This all looks like a lot for the writer to handel but I like to see where he goes with whats hapening on Earth 2 so stay tuned for issue 17 coming next month.

Mega Man X is back

Thats right folks, X is back thanks to Archie Comics. starting with a new story for Mega Man this February will also have back story which features the origin of Mega Man X.

Now from an interview with IGN the writer (for both Mega Man and Sonic Comics) Ian Flynn, had told that the story of X will take place a few months before the first game (of Mega Man X). Like the Mega Man series. X's will most likely follow the games. Also the story will have a bit more darker tone then what you'll find in the Mega Man series. Set your calender of this issue Mega Man fans cause this might be the first of many spin-off comics for Mega Man if this goes well like the Mega Man/Sonic crossover.

Also as a special treat here is an alternate cover for X's first appearence in issue 34.

Note: here is the link for those who are interested in the interview with writher Ian Flynn.

another weekly comic reviews

Hey Guys,

part 4 and 5 of the forever evil reviews will come shortly this week. Until then here are some comics that are not from DC and might be easy to get in to. So lets get started.

Up first is.......     FF#12

Like any of the previous issues of the FF, they're a fun read, wouldn't feel lost in the story and makes you want to read more. But for those who can't find all the previous issues here is a quick recap. The original Fantastic Four are on a trip that travels through space and time. While there gone they left some replacements in charge as the new Fantastic Four and leaders of the Future Foundation while they're away. The comic focuses on the new team that has Ant-man, She-Hulk, Medusa and Ms. Thing along with the members of the Future Foundation which are kids. In this series the team tries to save the Fantastic Four who are now lost in time. Now that is out of the way lets start the comic.

Like the last issue its still a fun read, but unlike the last issue it had a different writer. Which is not bad cause the new writer is trying to finish what the last writer was doing and didn't mess it up as some people thought it would. The issue has a bit of romance between Ant-man (Scott Lang) and Ms. Thing (Darla Deering) which is actually not bad.  I do feel bad that most of the crazy characters all want to kill the future version of Johnny Storm who may be part of an evil plot made by Kang. Although here he's the teenager who quit being the hero called Iron Lad and before he became Kang so I guess he's calling himself Kid Immortus (I guess he's not good at names). There are scenes that show the new character Adolf Impossible who is a new character that came in last issue and he is awesome to have in the story. Other then that it was a fun read and I suggest anyone to pick this along with any other issue of FF up.

Next we have.....    The Powerpuff Girls #1

IDW has finally publish the first of many comics for cartoon network. Unlike a certain kids comic from IDW it was a fun read. I may be a little bias cause I enjoyed Powerpuff Girls as a kid. It feels like an episode of Powerpuff girls and I like how the characters still stayed the same. I like the fact that they make fun of there own puns and that they are trying something new that I can get behind in. Unfortunately this comic is not an origin story so new readers will probably be lost on who the characters are. This comic is aimed for the older fans who watched the Powerpuff Girls when they were a kid. The weird part is that the girls fight a rip-off version of Man-thing who apperently loves to golf. Besides that weird scene we do get to see that the villain Mojo Jojo is really depressed and would love to see where that goes. If your a fan of Powerpuff Girls, pick up this issue, it has a nostlagic feel for when you enjoyed it as a kid.

Next is......    Superior Spider-man Team-up #3

This one is a bit weird. Its a tie-in for the newest event comic Infinity. Unless you've read the new series 'Mighty Avengers' and the event comic you might get a little lost. Not too much that its a bad story. Unlike what Marvel was telling us what to expect in this comic Spider-man (Doc Ock) does not team-up with Sun Girl. infact I don't think this is a team-up at all unless you count some of the members of the mighty Avengers. It introduces a new character called Fulmina who might be marvel's new hero or villain. I'm not sure cause this is part 1 of a 2 parter comic. I love the fact that Doc Ock acutally tries to help this new character and it might end up blowing up in his face. This issue is skippable as a team-up book, but its not bad as a tie-in book. Its pretty much self contained and shows more of Doc Ock being a really good super hero. Its not really a must read but its okay.

And last......    Uncanny Avengers #12

Now this is a bit weird cause this isn't a comic you can just walk into but Marvel insisted that it's a new story arc. Its actually just that start of the second half of the major story arc featuring the Apocolypse twins. You do get the idea where everything is and what the backstory of this really quickly so thats a plus. the art's not bad and the story so far is really good considering its written by Rick Remender. Although I do like the Uncanny Avengers series, who might have to read Rick's other series called Uncanny X-Force which helps in getting the full picture on what the hell is going on. It's only a must read if you have been reading the last few issues of Uncanny Avengers and to see Kang's time traveling plans just fall apart like a house of cards.

Thats all I have for now and hope to see you again.

weekly comic reviews with other comics

Since I'm attending the Ottawa International Animation Festival this week, there will be no video this week. Don't worry there will be a video for this week but will be coming next week (hopefully early next week). However this dosen't stop me to at least let you guys know of comics you can start reading and enjoy without hunting down other comics you missed to get the story.

To start of lets begin with Adventure Time #20

There's a little trend were Adventure time likes to have a one-shot story before starting another 4 issue story arc. This issue is a bit weird. It's called Adventure Me, where it tries to make you part of the story and look like your interacting with the characters Finn and Jake. Its a quick read but you have a lot of fun reading it. Since you see Finn and Jake fighting Ice King with a possesed Gumball Guardian, that just catches your attention and want to see what happens next. the only downside is that you see through another character eyes which is block have the time. Kinda like that one powerpuff girls episode where we only see the show through the eyes of the mayor. However you forgive the comic for that once you see once who's point of view we're seeing. for fans of that character your in for a rel treat. This issue is skippable but its still a fun read.

Up next, Bravest Warriors #12

This is another one-shot, kinda like the last three issues of Bravest Warriors. However this issue is paper thin for a story with two of the main chacters join a tornament only to end up with broken arms. This is a fun read cause this does feel like an episode of Bravest Warriors. There is another story in the comic, but its just as quick as the other story. Even though this is printed as a kids book this is no way ment for children. Maybe for pre-teens and teenagers, but I wouldn't pick this up for kids. That doesn't mean you shouldn't by the comic. If your a fun of Adventure time then your going to get a kick out of reading Bravest Warriors (both are created by Pendelton Ward) for characters who are insane most of the time going on wacky adventures.

Now on to Doctor Who #13

I'm a huge Doctor Who and this comic does not dissapoint. Its about the Doctor teaming up with Oscar Wilde trying to stop an undead gunslinger who kills people with his finger (finger acts like a gun). If that doesn't get fans of Doctor Who to pick up this issue I don't know what does. The art is a lot better then some of the other modern doctor who comics and the story is off at a promesing start for a 4 issue story arc. The only downside is if have watched all the doctor who episodes, then you know that the Dcotor has already been to the wild west before. Also if you have seen all the episodes then you know the Doctor and his companion Clara Oswald will live past this adventure. The bright side is this comic is the fact that the bad guy of the week is unknown to everyone including the Doctor and its always fun to see new mysteries in Doctor Who that works so well with the story. It also shows scenes of Clara talking to Oscar Wilde (kinda like Donna Noble and Agatha Christie) which is always fun to see a companion messing with time and the Doctor a little bit. This comic is a must read for all Doctor Who fans and thoughs who want to be Doctor Who fans.

Now last, but certainly not least, Mega Man #29

If you haven't read last issue of Mega Man, no worries the comic pretty much explains what happen in the last comic butting you and Mega Man up to speed. This is still part 1 of a 4 issue story arc about a video game that never made it in the U.S. called Rockman Adventures. The story of the game is that an ancient evil computer called Ra Moon who covers the world in a E.M.P. field that stops all technology in the world and Mega Man mst stop him before the its too late for man kind. Since not a lot of people have played the game (for those who can't get a copy of it) there's room for some changes of the story, but still keeps it close to the source material of the game. Unlike the game Mega Man doesn't come alone. He goes in with robot masters Guts Man, Cut Man and Bomb Man to save the world along with Roll who was injured in the last issue. I also like the fact that Doctor isn't the main villain of the comic as he normal is in every other issue. The interier art is fun to look at and the story keeps you into it and makes you want to know what hapens next. The only downside I'm seeing is the cover. The one I have that you see is a variant cover and its okay. Its good, but not as great as the normal cover you would normaly see at stores. This comic is a must read and is the closest thing to Rockman Adventures we'll ever going to get.

Hope this helps to finding good comics this week and I'll see you guys later.

Weekly Comic Reviews #15 - Forever Evil part 3

Weekly reviews on other comics

If you've been watching my weekly comic reviews you may have notice I've been trapped in a lantern ring by an evil version of myself. But just because I'm trapped in a ring doesn't mean I can't do some reviews on comics.

Lets start with .... Adventure Time: Candy Capers #3 of 6

Like the last issue its pretty much another team-up of characters you never expect to team-up and be heroes (ex.Marceline and Treetrunks). This time its the Earl of Lemongrab and Lumpy Space Princess having to deal with six kinds of were-wolfs who all want Wolf mountain to be their new home. Thats only half the story as Peppermint Butler and Cinnamon Bun are looking for Finn and Jake in the afterlife thinking they might have died somewhere. This all looks fun and will get you in the story on where Finn and Jake are. This and the previous two issues are a fun read. If your already an Adventure Time fan you'll like the jokes and the weird team-ups of characters you never expect to team up. For those who are not Adventure Time fans, you'll learn that the people can't survive for more then 5 mins when Finn and Jake are away.

Next up..... Astro City #4

Like any issue of Astro City it manly focus on characters you never expect along with the many super heroes that appear in the city. This issue focuses on Martha Sullivan (or Sully as you soon learn in the comic). She has telekinetic powers and is kidnapped by a new villain (who can't come up with good names) called The Majordomo. However this comic shows a lot of flashbacks on why she doesn't use her powers to be a super hero or villain. She learns that there more ways to live with powers then just those two choices and that she is not alone. Sully is actually an interesting character. This comic really shows what someone with superpowers would actually do with their powers instead of the same trope of power corrupts. I highly recommend reading this issue along with any other issue of Astro City.

And Last........Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro-Series #6 Featuring ...... Hun

I'll just get this out of the way since you learn this at the very start of the comic ( and those of you who are reading the current ninja turtle comic). Hun is the father of Casey Jones. I know it sounds weird but hear me out. If your reading the current ninja turtle comic by IDW you already know that Casey's dad was a abusive drunk who was wasting his life away after Casey's mom died. In the current story arc 'City Fall' Casey was stab by Shredder and taking to a hospital. This gets Hun to get his act together, but he gets help from the Shredder (not knowing that Shredder was the one who harmed his kid). He gets back into shape by using the ooze and taking back contole of the purple dragons to work for the Shredder. Its really cool that Hun is now the only mutant that dosen't have any animal parts and will have lots of stories to tell now that we know Casey is his son. However this comic is not as good as the previous villain comics which is sad cause the writer is trying to make him into a ends justify the means kind of villain. which dosen't seem to catch my interest as much as you would think. However I'm willing to give it a shot since the writer for the current series might do a better job on Hun. Still it was a fun read and recommend all ninja turltes fans to buy it. Thats all I have for know so thanks for reading and a video will come soon.

The Crime Syndicate. What we need to know

Okay guys, If you haven't read Justice League #23 'Trinity War' has just ending. The entire story was (if you guessed it) nothing more then a prolouge to the event comic 'Forever Evil'. By the end of the story the Crime Syndicate have arrived and ready to invade the Earth.

But before we get into 'Forever Evil' (which comes out next week) Lets look and see who where facing   in New 52's version of the Crime Syndicate. So far the original 5 are pretty much the oppistes of the counterparts.

Ultraman
Ultraman is ruthless and the leader of the team. Love how this costume is close to Superman's, but with a U instead of an S. Also people will tell this is not Superman very soon cause of Ultraman's personality.

Owlman
Ultraman may be the leader, but Owlman is the brains behind the team. This is Thomas Wayne Jr, with all the skills that Batman has. His costume leans more to the anti-universe version then the silver age version. But it works. I wonder if he has a bit of mind controle powers like one version of Owlman had back in the 60's.

Super Woman
All we know of Super Woman is she loves to torture people and is the wife of Ultraman. I like her new costume.  Its a modern version of the silver age costume and that her lasso is made of barb wire.

Power Ring
Power Ring is cursed to where the magic ring that gives him his power. He is the opposite of Hal Jordon by being a coward that stutters. Changes are from what we're seeing that ring might kill him one day. Also and this is just a guess after reading the green lantern books, the ring mught be Volthoom, The First Lantern from Geoff Johns's run on 'Green Lantern'. So we'll wait and see.

Johnny Quick
Not much to know about Johnny Quick other than he's a petty criminal with super speed. Don't know if he gets his powers from his helmet or a drug that gives him super speed. We'll wait and see what happens in 'Forever Evil'. Other then that I notice that in DC's New 52 all speedsters from alternate earths wear similar helmets. Don't know if thats a thing but its still pretty cool.

Now that we got the core 5 out of the way lets go the newest members of the team.

Deathstorm
For those who remember, Deathstorm was a black lantern copy of Firestorm from the 24 issue series Brightess Day. In the New 52 version he was a professor who gains the same powers as Firestorm by merging with his dead student. So far Deathstorm is kinda like Black hand by being into things that are dead. But we'll see more about him in 'Forever Evil'. His costume is pretty much a evil version of Firestorm so there's not much to say about that.

Sea King
Not much to say other then he died by coming through portal getting here, so he won't be apart of the story. Just thought I mention him cause he came first in the comic. I do like the fact tha Sea King has a evil version of his costume, but also looking like he did back in the 90's or the Justice League for those who don't read comics.

The Outsider
The Outsider as we found out has been around since the Justice League first formed 5 years ago. While trying to find away to bring the Crime Syndicate to Earth he formed the Secret Society to fight the league and be the Syndicate's army of supervillians. The shocking twist here is that Outsider is Owlman's butler Alfred. Its really cool seeing Alfred being such a clever super villian. The way he looks kinda reminds me of Joker, but I think it works on him.

Atomica
Was sent by Outsider to be a spy for the Justice League, JLA and A.R.G.U.S. to weakin there defense to make the Crime Syndicate's invasion a easy victory. I was surprised by the fact it was Rhonda Pineda (the Atom ) as the spy. It was clear she was to spy on the league for A.R.G.U.S. and it was tearing her up inside. But finding out it was all an act was really a shocker. She's also in a relationship with Johnny and We'll how she does now everyone nows she's evil.

Now that we have are villians, whats going to happen to the DC Universe now that the Crime Syndicate are here with the secret society as there army who will stop them and save the world. Find out next week when DC comics releases Forever Evil #1.

The Cataclysim of the Ultimate Marvel Universe

In the 'Age of Ultron' story, Wolverine tried to stop Ultron by time traveling. Since he time traveled so much it appearently broke the multiverse were characters can crossover to any timeline or universe, which shows Galactus in Ultimate Marvel. The mini-series called 'The Hunger' shows really interesting story where Nova (Rick Jones) and Noran Radd (The Silver Searcher) try to stop Galactus from coming to earth. Which if you seen some of the upcoming comics online, it dosen't work out well. I'm all for the characters of Ultimate Marvel fighting Marvel's Galactus. Its just I'm a bit dissapointed that the current line of Ulitmate comics will have to be put on hold (or cancled, I'm not too sure which) for three new mini-series which is part of the Cataclysim story. This also has me worried that this will probably be the end for Ultimate Marvel. If not, I like to see what stories the writer and artist can come up with in a post Galactus world. Let's just hope its not another 'Ultimatum'.

If your interested in the mini-series that are part of Cataclysim, here are the covers for all three.

Cataclysim: Ultimate Spider-Man

Cataclysim: Ultimate X-men

Cataclysim: The Ultimates

Weekly Comic Reviews #9

Crime Syndicate returns

For those who haven't heard Geoff Johns (writer to 'Justice League') reveled that at the end of Trinity War and throughtout the Justice League comics in November during the crossover story 'Forever Evil" will be the Crime Syndicate. These guys have been given redsigns and a new team member named Deathstorm. During the Juatice League comics they will be facing Lex Luthor and his super team for control of earth. This sounds like an awesome story and a must read for crime syndicate fans.

New Writer for Earth 2

For those of you who are fans of the comic 'Earth 2', the writer James Robinson is leaving the series after #16 which would end the story arc on were most of Earth 2's heroes fight the villain Steppenwolf. Just recently it was revealed that Tom Taylor (writer of the digital comic 'Injustice: Gods Amoung Men') pick be the new writer and will pick up were James left off. For more info, click on the link here.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=46556

In the interview you might notice that Tom is trying to not reveal whats to come in Earth 2. He does reveal that Batman and Red Tornado will have a more active role in the next few issues. After seeing Red Tornado in action from the last page in the last issue I'm all for a story focussing on her.

Unlike the annual comic, we will also get to know the new Batman's identity. Some fans say its Dick Grayson (Robin), while others say its Ted Grant (Wildcat). It could be either or just a new character made for the comic. As long as it keeps people into reading the comic its all good.

Also Tom revealed that something hidden under Arkham Asylum will appear in the next story ark of Earth. He didn't want to spoil what it was, but for those who read the recently new series 'Batman Superman' I think its a little too late for that. The writer for 'Batman Superman' Greg Pak showed that
Arkham is now an amusement park while most of the Gothams criminals are frozen in a cryo-prison. In the panel we see four tubes holding a few criminals. Those four are The Joker, The Creeper, Sinestro, and Aqua Woman.

The Joker

 The Creeper

Sinestro

Aqua Woman

Changes are they probably won't look like this since Earth 2 is another universe. But still having 4 criminals (one of them being a evil female Aquaman) waking up to world that has changed so much to now have fire pits, Certain citys destroyed and three greatest heroes (Wonder woman, Superman and the first Batman) no longer amoung the living sounds like a story worth getting into if that happens.  If not, well at least we got a writer that is good friends with the previous writer and followed the book so fans won't be upset.

comic book news

If you haven't seen it yet. DC comics has shown the covers for Justice League 3000 and
Superman/Wonder Woman.

Justice League 3000

Superman/Wonder Woman

Justice League 3000 has me interested on who these characters are and where they come from even more. I'll let you all know once this comic comes out in October. Superman/Wonder Woman is not one of the few titles I'm interested in. But we'll see once it's out in stores. From the cover I see that the guys who are making this comic did there homework. You can see not just characters from Superman but also characters from Wonder Woman. So check them out and let me know what you think about them.

Also for fans of Damian Wayne. There's a new mini-series coming in October about Damian in a future that will never be called Damian: Son of Batman by Andy Kubert.
